The Chrysler Pacifica Carries

The Chrysler Pacifica carries many of the features now expected in crossover vehicles, but doesn't deliver the engine power or value of class leaders and ranks in the bottom half of both the affordable midsize and crossover SUV classes.
While the "Chrysler Pacifica" is a viable minivan alternative, our analysis shows that its engine power and third-row seating fall short of expectations.
The Chrysler Pacifica was one of the original large crossover wagons. In order to combine the driving attributes of a car with the utility offered by minivans and sport-utility vehicles, the Pacifica crossover had four front-hinged doors, an elevated seating position, five- or six-passenger seating and a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Compared to other crossover wagons, the Chrysler Pacifica was relatively upscale and offered a wide array of creature comforts wrapped in elegantly chiseled sheet metal. Most Recent Chrysler Pacifica
The Chrysler Pacifica debuted for the 2004 model year, at which point it was offered only in base and Limited trim levels. A 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 250 lb-ft became standard on all but the base front-wheel-drive model in 2005, and the 3.8-liter V6 was eliminated for 2006, leaving the 3.5-liter unit as the sole available engine. For 2007, the 3.8-liter mill returned in the base front-wheel-drive model, this time rated at 200 hp, and a 4.0-liter V6 replaced the 3.5-liter V6 in all other models. Base 2004 Pacificas featured two-row, five-passenger seating and were fairly comfortable, thanks to niceties such as dual-zone climate control, a power driver seat and a load-leveling suspension. The 2005 base model, meanwhile, lost some standard accoutrements and was priced lower going forward. The 3.8-liter engine is to be avoided, but the 3.5-liter and 4.0-liter V6s are decent performers.

2011 Chrysler 200 mid-sized Sedan

Chrysler announced that its all-new midsize sedan will be called the 200. Most notable from these snapshots are the narrower front and rear lights and the restyled Chrysler emblem. The 200 will come with a choice of two powertrains: the 2.4-liter four-cylinder carried over from the previous generation with either a four-speed or six-speed automatic, and higher-end versions will get the company’s new 3.6-liter V-6 with 283 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic. That’s more power than what V-6 versions of the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or Ford Fusion produce.

We expect to learn more as the auto show season approaches.
Chrysler has revealed the mystery around its fully enhanced 2011 Chrysler 200 mid-sized sedan, promising fans and customers remarkable styling, reinforced driving experience, technology innovations, and of course abundance of standard safety features.

Chrysler is laying it on thick this week, with both the updated 2011 Chrysler Grand Voyager and Jeep Patriot revealed earlier today, and now a trio of teaser images for the upcoming 2011 Chrysler 200.

In Australia, the Sebring Cabrio is currently offered with a 2.7 litre V6 engine producing a significantly lower 137kW.
Speaking with TMR today, Chrysler Australia's Dean Bonthorne confirmed that with the current Sebring sedan not being part of the Australian range, there are no plans to give the upcoming 200 a local launch.

Chrysler 200 revealed‎

The thoroughly modern Chrysler 200 will replace the Sebring, Chrysler's ageing saloon, which enjoyed lukewarm sales.

The Chrysler 200 is powered by a 2.4-litre inline-4 engine mated to either a four-speed or six-speed automatic gearbox.

Interior fit and finish has blighted Chrysler Group cars in recent years, although the company stresses 'an abundance of quality materials' have been used.

Chrysler has officially revealed the upcoming 200 sedan ahead of its launch later his year.
The front-wheel drive 2011 Chrysler 200 is powered by a choice of two petrol engines; a 2.4-litre four-cylinder base engine and a 3.6-litre V6 motor

One of the biggest hurdles in the Chrysler Group's comeback from bankruptcy has been its weak entries in the mid-size sedan segment, where the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger have been languishing for years. The initial pictures don't show drastic sheet-metal changes, although Chrysler indicates the Chrysler 200 will benefit from "upgrades" to its front and rear fascias and fenders, grille, hood, rear deck lid and exterior mirrors, along with enhanced lighting from new projector headlamps/fog lamps, LED tail lamps and an LED center high-mounted stop light. The Chrysler Group has begun to develop a strong reputation for high-quality cabins, beginning with enhancements to the Dodge Ram pickup and carrying through to all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee; early interior photos from the new Dodge Charger and Dodge Durango also have been well received. The Chrysler 200 will become the smallest, lightest Chrysler Group product to pack this engine, allowing the powerplant to better show off its capabilities.

2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser

The 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser ranks 7 out of 8 Affordable Compact Wagons. Slow and funny looking, the 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser is the zombie of the automotive world. Despite falling sales and harsh reviews, the "PT Cruiser" just won't die.

Car and Driver comments, "Chrysler's 1940s-esque retro wagon remains versatile for its size but is clearly outdated.

Other Compact Wagons to Consider
It costs about $2,000 more than the PT Cruiser, but is seriously fun to drive.

When pitted against the competition, the 2010 "PT Cruiser" clings to life with only its unique styling, versatile interior and roomy accommodations as positive attributes.
The PT Cruiser's rivals are numerous and vastly more capable--The 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser is a five-seat compact wagon that is now offered in only one trim level -- the Classic. Included are 16-inch alloy wheels, foglights, a rear spoiler, full power accessories, air-conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, a trip computer, keyless entry and a four-speaker audio system with a CD player and auxiliary audio jack. The optional Convenience Group adds a six-way power driver seat, a fold-flat front passenger seat and heated front seats.

The 2010 "Chrysler PT Cruiser" is powered by a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. The only available transmission is a four-speed automatic that drives the front wheels. Fuel economy is a middling 19 mpg city/24 mpg highway and 21 mpg in combined driving.

Antilock disc brakes, front seat side airbags and a low-speed traction control system are standard for the 2010 PT Cruiser..

Those seated in back are afforded a pleasant view thanks to the Cruiser's slightly elevated rear seats, and head- and legroom are plentiful for adult passengers.
With the previous turbocharged engine no longer available, the 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser is left with the anemic base power plant and outdated four-speed automatic.

Recently I have rented this car. The ?steering wheel is made for a sailboat with an incredibly small turning radius. ? This car is dangerous to drive with a ?terrible side and back view, with blind spots of about 30 degree or so at each side! Also, the whole car starts shaking ?when accelerating or driving at any speed above 40 mph. Overall, very poor performance ?on every technical and mechanical parts of this

The New 2011 Chrysler Voyager Review

When the original Chrysler Voyager was launched in the mid-80s, it created the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) as we know it today, a vehicle with seven or eight seats that drives like a car. It was such a hit that it sent all car manufacturers, including the Japanese and Europeans, back to the drawing boards to develop their own MPV models.
Twenty years on, with almost every car maker having its own interpretation of the Voyager, Chrysler has had to continually upgrade its MPVs to maintain a lead in the segment that it created. The present Grand Voyager is the second-generation model and was launched in the late 90s. It had an exterior facelift two years ago, and this year it gets the revolutionary 'Stow n Go ' seats.
Flexibility has always been key to the appeal of the MPV, but removing the seats and finding a place to store it is an issue, especially in the Asian markets where people don't often have garages. Before 'Stow n Go', the Grand Voyager had small castors under their seats so that they could be wheeled around, but they were still incredibly heavy to lift out of the vehicle. The solution is for seats that don't have to be lifted out, but completely disappear into the floor.
In actuality, the disappearing third row seat is not a new idea the original '96 Honda Odyssey had a third row bench that folded and flipped into a well in the floor, and the Voyager adopts this idea. But it is the folding of the second row seats that is especially clever. After five simple steps, and the tugging of several tabs and straps, the whole seat literally disappears into the floor without a trace. This is all the more impressive as the seat adjustment functions are not compromised when upright, it can both slide and recline.
The trick of course, is to have a seat which folds into as compact a bundle as possible, and this is achieved by having both the swab and backrest of equal length. This results in a rather low backrest for an otherwise comfortable seat. This means that for most adults, the headrest has to be raised to prevent it from cutting into the middle of their backs.
The mechanical of the Grand Voyager remain largely unchanged with a torquey 3.3-litre V6 making it feel well-powered and relaxed. Cruising is extremely effortless in the Chrysler, and there is an impressive absence of road- or engine-noise. It is also extremely well-equipped with a roof-mounted DVD player and plenty of storage areas.
There is also an abundance of automation on the Grand Voyager. Both the sliding rear doors are power-operated, as is the tailgate, and so are the hinged rear windows.
Everything can be controlled from the driver's seat, which is very convenient. The doors can also be opened and closed remotely with the key fob, useful on rainy days or when one's hands are full. The integration of a reversing monitor screen into the rear view mirror is also very thoughtful - it's a surprise no one else has thought about doing this. Quite clearly, the people at Chrysler are not resting on their laurels, but have continually added more and more convenient features to the MPV.
The only quirk in this otherwise impressive MPV is that the whole steering columns, along with the stalks, have been taken from a left-hand drive vehicle. This means the column gearshift is on the driver's right, when in most instances it is operated by the left hand. Apart from this, the Grand Voyager continues to impress, and maintains its title as the ultimate MPV, if price and size were no object.
