Gemballa Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R

The Gemballa AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO-R comes to us courtesy of GEMBALLA Automobiltechnik GmbH & Co. KG, a German tuner which tries to expand the simple song and dance number that is the Porsche 911 turbo into a full-fledged musical extravaganza.

Hurricane, typhoon, tornado...no, let's call this one the avalanche. And what exactly is the analogy to the car here of a multi-ton pile of snow that comes down on you? Hey, has anyone ever measured the horsepower readings of an avalanche?

In any case, this is a facelift and the main points to note are the new, specially-designed butterfly doors and front headlights borrowed from the current Carrera GT. Updated are also the the LED taillights from the most recent facelifted 911 and a new carbon fiber rear skirt with integrated diffuser for the quad-pipes of the aluminum sport exhaust system.

But the Gemballa AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO-R is still a marvel of tuning with its custom made bonnet and side skirts and other parts forged from metal and welded to the body shell. Leonberg-based Gemballa also makes use of carbon fiber parts to keep the weight down such as with the front lip and wings.

Performance stays the same at 650 hp (478 kW) and 950 Nm of torque maxing out at 6,200 and 4,600 rpm, respectively. 0 to 100 km/h for the all-wheel drive AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO-R clocks in a 3.4 seconds and top speed is a breezy 332 km/h.

Alfa Romeo Could be Canceled

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has cast Stygian clouds over hope that Alfa Romeo will convey to the U.S. in the near future. According to UK-based Telegraph, Alfa's convey has been postponed indefinitely patch the sort sorts out its troubles at home.

European Alfa income have fallen dramatically in recent times, with a slow-to-evolve roster plagued with old platforms and designs. Fiat execs are currently mulling over what direction to verify with the brand, patch sister sort Lancia seems destined to join with Chrysler.

\"Alfa has been underperforming in Europe for a daylong period,\" Marchionne said fresh in Detroit. \"The most arduous part of the Fiat turnover is the management of Alfa; we have failed to deliver on its promise. \"

According to the Telegraph, Alfa has dropped from 207,000 sales in 2001 to 103,000 in 2009. Marchionne had planned to increase Alfa sales to 300,000 by 2011, though that content currently seems a taste too optimistic.

The newest help in the Alfa scuttlebutt is the small five-door Giulietta, designed to replace the aging 147. The Guilietta will be launched this outflow in Europe, mass a world entry at the 2010 Geneva motor show in March. We were hoping to intend a timeline for a U.S. launch around the same time, but that is probable to be pushed backwards until Fiat bosses monitor dweller sales of the sporty hatchback. The Giulietta's new papers is reported to modify the foundation for a difference of upcoming Alfa models.

Car Design News has launched a series of free one-hour car design webinars. The first one - titled 'Design and Visualisation of Materials and Textures' - will take place on 27 January. The next two webinars will cover interior lighting and ecological micro-fibers.

Car Design News is launching a series of free webinars. Each one will last about 60 minutes, will be presented by professionals from sponsoring companies and will include a Q&A session.

Registration for each webinar is available about three weeks before the presentation date.

Interested users can sign up for free from this registration page. They will receive a weblink for the live view and will be able to access the presentation later from the website's archive - in the Tutorials section.
The first webinar is titled "Design and Visualisation of Materials and Textures" and will take place on January 27 at 15.00 GMT.

It will be presented by Michele Hess, Materials Research, and Marian Johannes Endres, Product Management, from Realtime Technology (RTT) AG.

The second webinar is titled "LEDs for automotive interiors - Visualization, Illumination and Sensing; Designing Next Generation Automotive Interiors with LEDs".
It will be presented by Michael Godwin, Director for Visible LEDs (Osram Opto Semiconductors) and is scheduled for February 17, 14.30 GMT .
The third webinar is titled "Ecological microfibres for automotive interiors", sponsored by Miko, and is scheduled for next March (date to be confirmed).
CDN is planning to launch additional webinars in the future.

This design simple electric car tango is nice car with red color. The Tango T600 is an electric car by Commuter Cars of Washington. It’s quite an odd car even for an electric car, and is about the width of some larger motorcycles.

Seating two in tandem the car is fairly well equipped with racing style seats, air conditioning electric windows, a MoTeC dash, leather trim cruise control and a fairly decent stereo system. It has decent performance too with the ability of Zero to 60mph (100 klm) in four seconds and has can accelerate through the standing 1/4 mile in 12 seconds at over 120 mph (190 kph).

Range is also expected to be up to 80 Miles (130 Klm) so this car seems pretty darn good performance wise for an electric car, so what’s the catch? Well firstly you have to get use to the love it or hate it styling, personally we hate it.

I know the skinny size of the car is suppose to make it more nimble in traffic but there is something about it that makes it look weird, the next issue is the price tag, which is $108,000.

The companies web site talks up the benefits and costs per mile of their electric vehicle compared to a standard car but we recon if you got 108k to pay for a car the cost per mile probably doesn’t matter too much.

The company does have future plans for 2 cheaper models at approx $40k and $19k so we might hold off on our final judgment unit these cars are developed.

The Zap Xebra is an electric 3 wheeled car produced in China and sold in the United States the Xebra has a 40klm range with a top speed of around 60klm an hour. Technically classed as a motorcycle the car features such luxuries as 4 seats with seatbelts and a radio/cassette and a heater. The Xebra is about the cheapest electric cars you could own with a price tag of around $11k US it could be tempting to some but also remember 40klm is not that far and walking or riding a bike is just as environmentally friendly with far less mechanical problems. Many owners who have ponied up cash for the Xebra have noted it has poor build quality with a tendency to leak water into the electrics, probably not a good thing in an electric car. Zap claim to have rectified the leaking issue but you really have to be keen to go green with a car that looks like this one.
