History of Cars

The term automobile is mainly a motor vehicle designed to carry people or things without rails.
Although the term car par excellence is used to refer to passenger cars, there are other types of cars, trucks, buses, vans, motorcycle or quads.

Cugnot Nicolas-Joseph (1725-1804), mechanical, military engineer, French writer and inventor, took the big step, to build a steam car, originally designed for towing artillery. The Fardi à vapeur, as he called Cugnot, began circulating on the streets of Paris in 1769. It was riding a tricycle on the front wheel a boiler and a vertical two-cylinder engine and 50 liters of displacement, the front wheel tractor and guideline was to turn the two cylinders working directly on it.

In 1770 he built a second model, larger than the first, and could drag 17.70 tons at a speed of 4 km / h. With this version was produced which could be considered 'first accident' of history, to be impossible, the correct handling of monumental vehicle, which ended up crashing into a wall that collapsed the result of the incident. Cugnot still had time to build a third version in 1771, preserved at present exposed in the National Technical Museum in Paris.

In 1784 William Murdoch built a model steam carriage and in 1801 Richard Trevithick drove a vehicle in Camborne (United Kingdom). In these early vehicles were developed such innovations as hand brakes, and wheel speeds.

Josef Bozek In 1815 he built a motor-powered car with oil. In 1838, Robert Davidson built an electric locomotive which reached 6 km per hour. Between 1832 and 1839 Robert Anderson invented the first car driven by non-rechargeable electric cells.

Second Marcus Car of 1888 (Technical Museum Vienna).
Belgian Etienne Lenoir did run a car with internal combustion engine around 1860, powered by coal gas.
Around 1870, in Vienna, inventor Siegfried Marcus did run an internal combustion engine fuel base, known as the "First Marcus Car". In 1883, Marcus patented a low-voltage ignition was introduced in subsequent models.
It is commonly accepted that the first automobiles with gasoline were developed almost simultaneously by German engineers working independently: Karl Benz built his first automobile in 1885 in Mannheim. Benz was granted a patent on 29 January 1886 and started production in 1888. Soon after, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Stuttgart, designed their own cars in 1889.

Ferrari Enzo Gemballa MIG U1

In the last 27 years, Uwe Gemballa has achieved the best world-wide reputation for refining Porsche cars. Now, the company manager from Leonberg near Stuttgart takes on a new challenge. The automobile manufacturer turns the most potent super sports car from Maranello, the Ferrari Enzo, into the GEMBALLA MIG-U1 – an individually produced edition, limited to only 25 cars.

The core part of the overall makeover is the entirely re-engineered aerodynamics concept by GEMBALLA. Without any exception, the manufacturer produces all components in real carbon in order to combine lowest weight with highest material strength.

Carlsson C25 Preview

German tuning company Carlsson has presented a preview of the C25, a super GT based on the SL65 AMG Black Series and powered by a 753 hp 6.0 liter V12 engine. It will feature an in-house developed design and will be produced in a limited series of 25 units.
Carlsson C25 Rendering
The C25 will be the first in-house developed car for German company Carlsson, specialized in Mercedes-Benz tuning.

The new super GT will be powered by the 6.0 V12 engine that is adopted on the SL65 AMG Black Series, which in this edition delivers 753 hp and 1320 Nm at 3750 rpm.

The 0-100 km/h acceleration takes just 3.7 seconds and the top speed is 352 km/h.

The C25 will debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and will be produced in a limited series of 25 units, each tailored to the specific customer's requirements.

"We exclusively make the cars to order and the delivery quantity for 2010 is already sold out", says CEO, Dipl. Ing. (FH) Markus Schuster.

Among the technical highlights is the C-Tronic Suspension lowering system, which automatically recognises the road characteristics and driving manners and constantly adjusts the suspension setting accordingly.

The original design is characterized by the elongated front end with the tapered lobe between the powerful shoulders which craves ahead and the generously dimensioned air inlets in the typical Carlsson trapezoid form which supply the engine with the necessary ventilation.
Carlsson C25 Design Sketches
The ultra-light and forged wheels 1/10 UL in the dimensions 9,5x20 and 12x20 inches have been specifically designed for the C25 and are equipped with high performance tyres measuring 265/30 at the front and 325/25 at the rear live axle.

One wheel just weighs 11.2 kilograms and is 40 percent lighter than custom light alloy wheels.
The brake system has 405 mm race discs at the front and 380 mm race discs at the rear.
The elongated flat rear screen and the restrained tearing edge on the boot lit as well as the generously dimensioned double diffuser render the required downthrust and therefore the C25 does not need any extensible spoilers.

In order to emphasise the uniqueness of the C25, Carlsson has also developed a new rear- and front lights design.

Inside, the characteristic trapezoid elements at the front and back are also found on the steering wheel. On the seats and the centre console the edged shape is used as well.
Among the high quality materials used are real carbon, tanned buffalo leather and ultra-suede in special colours.

Concept car Porsche 911 Turbo TechArt GT

The cockpit of the TechArt GTstreet also differs distinctly from the stock 911 Turbo. Among the differences is an exclusive leather interior with color-contrasted stitching and sporty CarboBlack highlights.

The coupe is further equipped with an ergonomically shaped TechArt sport steering wheel, aluminum foot pedals, foot rest and shifter, as well as with illuminated door sills sporting the TechArt logo.

German TechArt studio will present in Geneva its latest tire-burner based on the current Porsche 911 Turbo 997 series super-coupe. While most tuners focus their efforts on eye-popping exterior enhancements, TechArt’s engineers have centered their attention

With its 2001 TechArt GTstreet, based on the Porsche 911 Turbo of the 996 model series, TechArt created one of the fastest and most powerful street-legal sports cars of its time. The next evolutionary stage of this fascinating concept celebrates its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2007. The new TechArt GTstreet, based on the 911 Turbo of the latest 997 series, starts at $320,000. Like the predecessor the new GTstreet edition centers on a powerful engine. The 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat engine is modified by the TechArt engine specialists and now develops 630 bhp at 6,800 rpm, up from standard 480 bhp. Peak torque increases to 605 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm.

The TechArt GTstreet rear fascia with integrated carbon-fiber diffuser contributes to the strong downforce generated on the rear axle. It also provides the perfect backdrop for the quad exhaust of the TechArt high-performance exhaust system.

TechArt Automobildesign offers a number of versions of its popular Formula wheel in sizes 8.5Jx20 in front and 12Jx20 on the rear axle. GTstreet buyers can choose from several color combinations and between the one-piece Formula and the multi-piece Formula II designs. The Formula II wheel features an exchangeable wheel lip. For optimal tires TechArt chose ContiSportContact 3 high-performance tires in sizes 245/30 ZR20 and 325/25 ZR20.

The large 20-inch wheels also provide the necessary space for the especially powerful and durable TechArt high-performance brake system. It features six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 390-millimeter discs on the front axle. The rear axle is fitted with 365-millimeter discs and four-piston fixed calipers. The TechArt GTstreet comes with a TechArt VarioPlus coil-over suspension that is based on the electronically adjustable PASM damping system of the 911 Turbo.

This chassis allows individual ride-height lowering by up to 25 millimeters and push-button selection of two different damper settings, “Normal” or “Sport.” However, the dampers are not limited to these presets. Sporty driving automatically results in firmer damper settings in both modes, thus combining excellent ride comfort during normal driving with agile and responsive handling during fast cornering.

The body kit for the TechArt GTstreet was created in the wind tunnel, and offers an optimal symbiosis of aerodynamic down force, minimized drag and striking design. The front fascia of the GTstreet with retractable carbon-fiber splitter produces down force on the front axle and provides radiator, oil coolers and brakes with more cooling air, thanks to its large, striking air inlets.

The auxiliary headlamp units with daytime running lights and fog lamps improve active safety. They also give the car even more passing clout. The TechArt GTstreet fender flares on the front axle add 10 mm to the two-door’s width and give it an even more dynamic appearance. But that’s not all:

The air outlets behind the front wheel houses optimize brake venting. The larger air ducts in the rear sidewalls provide engine and inter coolers with a larger supply of cooling air. For an optimal transition between front and rear fenders the TechArt designers have developed rocker panels that complement the new contours. TechArt mirror and headlamp moldings provide the finishing touches. The TechArt roof spoiler extends the roof line and optimizes airflow to the adjustable rear airfoil of the GTstreet.
